MAN MADE FOOD AND ANIMALS?
WE SAY 'NO' TO GMO

Genetically Altered Crops Mess with Nature

It is ignorance and arrogance of the highest order to believe humans can improve upon what nature has done over millennia.”

GE now means ‘genetically engineered foods and animals.’ It is a man made form of extreme human interference into the natural order of things. Is it genetic rape? Scientists hack into the genetic information of one life form, remove certain information and then artificially force this genetic coding into another, often unrelated life form. This man made process breaks the inter-species mating barrier and allows researchers to ‘play God’ and Rubiks cube life into whatever gene-mutilated form they want.

Spider genes were put into goats experimentally, fish genes into tomatoes, (no longer can you buy it) and currently, mice and e-coli genes are in Canadian pigs experimentally.

Despite the marketing promises of creating solutions to world hunger and preventing blindness - what has the bio-tech industry actually achieved in the last 15 years? Only ‘designer plants’ which don’t die when the new plants are sprayed with poisonous herbicides, and new strange plants that create their own pesticides in each cell. Both increase herbicide and pesticide sales for the companies like Monsanto that tampered with the original seeds, and holds patents on the new seeds for profit. Currently ‘their’ Canadian corn, canola, soy, are largely modified and remain unlabeled. Europe will not even buy Canada’s gene-altered crops as they believe them to pose a threat to humans and the environment. In Europe, GE /GM foodstuffs are labeled so that consumers can choose what they want to eat. Since it is not labeled here, we are all guinea pigs for the ‘new food.’

I have always voted for the Conservative Party, but this is too much. Why have the past governments (both Conservative and Liberal) not asked us voters whether we wanted the food seeds to be changed permanently? Bill C 474 is our way out of this ‘food-experient, and MP’s should support this bill that can stop the planting of more gene-altered (GM/GE) crops for ecomomic considerations. I would like health and environmental reasons to be considered as well. The natural food is good enough for me, and was good enough for all the generations before us. Don’t mess with the food of our children grandchildren and the future generations. The changes to the seeds can never be un-done. Stop tampering with life.
